Silence cut

Cut the dead air.
Without touching a cut.

Silence Cut reads the audio waveform, finds every pause, breath and hesitation, and removes them with the margin you choose. Your 40 minute rough cut comes out at 24.

How it works

From footage to base edit in one analysis.

1
Analyse the waveform
It walks the whole audio and maps every region below the decibel threshold you set.
2
Set the margin
Padding before and after each phrase so the cut breathes and does not sound clipped.
3
Apply the cut
Ripple delete on the real sequence, with every linked track moving together.
Capabilities

Fine control over what counts as silence.

A fixed threshold wrecks shots with room noise. Silence Cut gives you the parameters a real editor needs.

Decibel threshold
Adjust from −60 to −20 dB and preview on the waveform what goes before applying anything.
Pre and post padding
0 to 500 ms on each side to keep the natural attack and decay of every phrase.
Ripple or markers
Delete for real, or leave only markers so you review the cuts yourself before confirming.

Analysis
RMS detection, not peak detection
Measuring peaks makes a knock on the table count as speech. Silence Cut computes the average level over short windows, so it tells a one-off noise apart from a real phrase. The result holds up far better on recordings with a live room.
Minimum length
It does not cut natural speech pauses
A comma is a 200 ms silence and should never be cut. You can set the minimum length a silence must have to be a candidate, so the rhythm of speech survives and only the long pauses disappear.
Frequently asked

What people usually ask about Silence Cut.

Missing something? Support replies within one working day.

Can it be undone?
Yes. Everything is applied as cuts on the sequence, so Ctrl+Z reverts the whole operation.
What about background music?
If you analyse only the voice track, music does not interfere. You can also exclude specific tracks from the analysis.
Does it work with several speakers?
Yes, it works on audio level rather than speech recognition, so it does not care who is talking.
What if the cut sounds abrupt?
Raise the padding. At 150 to 200 ms per side most edits sound natural without losing pace.
